Description
Sandon River Campground is a picturesque camping area nestled between Five Mile Beach and the mouth to the Sandon River, within the Yuraygir National Park. The camping ground caters for 40 camp sites that overlook the ocean or the river. A nearby boat ramp provides easy access for fishing within the river estuary or out to sea. Water based activities are very popular including boating, fishing canoeing, swimming, surfing and fishing. There is also 4WD access to the beach. Vehicular access to the campground is via the unsealed Sandon Road in from Brooms Head Road. Facilities include picnic tables, wood barbecues, gas/electric barbecues, non-flush toilets, flush toilets, amenities block, drinking water and a public phone. Yuraygir National Park is the longest stretch of undeveloped coastline in NSW featuring 60 kilometres of striking cliffs, rocky headlands, isolated beaches and quiet lake systems, set against a backdrop of forests, heaths, estuaries and wetlands. Annual pass or daily vehicle entry fee of $7 is required.
