Description
Mountain scenery, waterfalls, rainforest, wildflower heaths, tall open forests, creeks, varied wildlife and some of the best bushwalking in Queensland are protected in Lamington National Park. The park is located near the New South Wales border in the Central Eastern Rainforest Reserves of Australia World Heritage Area. Managed by QPWS, the Green Mountains campground is situated on the side of a grassy sloping hill with tent and campertrailer sites cut into the slope. The view is sensational! An informal dirt road rings the camp sites and all walking tracks are located within easy walking distance. Book through the Green Mountains office and pay for your campsite at least three weeks in advance. Green Mountains is about 115km or almost two hours from Brisbane and 70km or 90 minutes from the Gold Coast via Canungra. The mountain roads are narrow and winding. Camping permits are required and fees apply. A small number of walk-in, bush camping opportunities are available at specific sites in the national park for experienced, well-equipped walkers for one night stays only. Bush camping is permitted between February and November each year.
